Think about something you really care about. It can be a toy, game, or something like a vacation. Then make these dreams into reality by drawing a picture or cutting out an example from a magazine or flyer. Put that picture near your Piggy Bank.

Build Your Budget --

Discuss ways you can earn or receive extra money. For example, weekly allowances, getting paid for chores you do around the house, and Birthday money you receive as a gift, can all be saved to buy something larger like a Bike.

Divide It Up --

Choose how your money should be divided. Many suggest 20% for savings, 2% - 5% for charity and the rest for spending. Remember the importance of setting aside some money for the long-term or the unexpected.

Deposit It --

Establish a routine ~ how often will you deposit your money? Every Friday or once a month. You decide. Remember that every time you make a deposit; you will be entered in the drawing for that month's special prize!

Sharing - Discuss how sharing projects and money builds a strong sense of belonging to a community or organization. Offer examples of things you may already do, such as supporting your local school or your place of worship. Generosity can be very rewarding!

Spending - Encourage youssr child to set realistic goals for spending. "Blowing" your spending money on something frivolous and not having money for something you really want is a very difficult lesson to learn. Early success goes a long way!
